This is just a wild-ass educated guess (as my grandma used to say) but I bet right now you’re wearing the 1,000 hats of motherhood and the 1,000 hats of entrepreneurship… and are a bit overwhelmed.
Us “mom-preneurs” are a special kind of crazy. We’re over here raising actual babies PLUS our “business baby”.
The only way we’re going to make it with our sanity intact is to learn how to: DELETE, AUTOMATE AND DELEGATE. And you need to do all 3 in spades if you’re a parent AND a business owner.
If you don’t…. then either you, your relationships, business or kids will suffer. Or all of ‘em.
Ask me how I know.
Here’s Tim Ferris’ framework from “The 4 Hour Workweek”. Get this book ASAP; It’s the bee’s knees! I put these principles into practice and immediately saw radical results. And felt an immense sense of… ease. Lightness.
3 steps to MORE free time and LESS overwhelm
STEP #1 – DELETE
The best way to save time is to DO LESS, so first you need to evaluate if your to-do list and business has items you really shouldn’t be doing on it. Then delete them. Boom! You just freed up a bunch of time! REMEMBER: IT’S EITHER A HELL YES OR A HELL NO. Quit wasting your time on the “maybes” and the “no’s” and just focus on the stuff that sets your soul on fire. What do you need to say “no” to, to make room for your one big, sexy “YES”? I’m sure there are a lot of things you need to do or want to do, but they don’t all need to be done RIGHT NOW, all at the same time. Get clear on what’s MOST important. Delete the rest for now. Just focus on one big juicy thing. You can do it all… but you can’t do it all RIGHT NOW.
STEP #2 – AUTOMATE
There are a lot of tasks and actions we do often that can be totally automated – whether it’s scheduling calls, social media posting, requesting testimonials and even ordering groceries and other items. If you know something can’t be deleted, then automate it! This is where tech systems come in. You’re probably wasting oodles of time (and therefore money!) doing mundane admin tasks that can easily be automated.
STEP #3 – DELEGATE
If something can’t be deleted or automated, try and get it off your plate ASAP by delegating it to someone else. Quit trying to play SuperWoman (it’s costing you your mental health) and make someone else do the things you don’t want to do, or don’t like doing. Yeah, this is your official permission slip to get some outside help. You deserve it.
NOTE: You want to delete and automate BEFORE you delegate. Just recently I was having my VA spend 4 hours per week at $20/hour doing a task ($80/month total), but then I discovered an AI automation that could do it for $19/month, with more accuracy! Can you dig it?
